Taylor Swift Midnight Rain
He wanted it comfortable, I wanted that painHe wanted a bride, I was making my own nameChasing that fame, he stayed the sameAll of me changed like midnight rain
The song "Midnight Rain" by Taylor Swift is about her own story of struggle and personal growth. Swift reflects on how she returned to her hometown and found it changed and looking a lot different than it did when she left. She talks about a boy waiting for her and wanting a more comfortable life with her but she wanted to make a name for herself and chase fame. It speaks of how even though he stayed the same, she changed and how he was sunshine and she was midnight rain. The song is about how she decided to strive for her own dreams and how this meant leaving behind people and situations that were comfortable for her. The chorus speaks to the differences between them and how ultimately, they both received what they wanted, even if it meant they never think of each other anymore.
When you thought of Lily Evans most would think midnight rain. Though she wasn't thought of much. Being a small actor and all, you didn't hear much about the name Evans. She didn't want to be known as the sister of Petunia Evans sister. She didn't want to be known as the ex of famous guitarist, James Potter. Maybe that was the reason she was midnight rain. Wanting her own name.
