Can anyone share their experience with going throuh NFCU's auto buying program? I was approved for a loan with NFCU today and they informed me of the program. I pick up a check for the dealership tomorrow and then it's off to find a car. I guess through the program they select dealers to work with and NFCU customers receive discounts with these dealers. I was wondering if anyone used the contracted dealers, what the experience was like and if the savings was significant.

Thanks for your response! I ended up buying a new car at a better price than my NFCU discount. The reason being is the car was the dealer's service vehicle (only has 5600 miles). Due to it being owned and driven by the dealership the state of Ca considers it used so yay me. I got a 34k car for 27k! With NFCU your interest rate is determined by year...cars are only considered new if they are current or future year, Then it goes by mileage....so current year has to be under 7,500 to get the best rate....score again! WOOHOO!!!

On the heels of announcing its latest initiatives to support the military, TrueCar announced a partnership to bring exclusive value to servicemembers and their families for all their vehicle buying and financing needs.

Darrow said TrueCar received an inquiry from Navy Federal last year at about the same time USAA said it planned to discontinue a car-buying program for its more than 13 million members. Navy Federal was "certainly a welcome inbound for us as we began to restrategize how we were going to continue to service this military community," Darrow added.

"They talk about clearly seeing the movement of their services to a digital environment, and the opportunity to do that on the car-buying service was important to them," he said. "In less than a year, our partner team was able to pull together a relationship with them, so it was really exciting for us."

Vehicle buyers under the Navy Federal partnership will be able to access TrueCar's online platform, at-home services from participating dealers, as much as $4,000 in reimbursements for repairs and auto deductible payments and a dedicated hotline.

In May, TrueCar introduced TrueCar Military, a vehicle-buying program for military service members, veterans and their families. Darrow said he envisions the expanded military program as a way to reach a wider audience of an estimated 40 million consumers.
